DISH today announced that it will become the largest company to accept bitcoin. As the first subscription model pay-TV provider to make this move, DISH will begin accepting bitcoin payments from customers starting in the third quarter. DISH Network L.L.C. is a wholly owned subsidiary of DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH).
“We always want to deliver choice and convenience for our customers and that includes the method they use to pay their bills,” said Bernie Han, DISH executive vice president and chief operating officer. “Bitcoin is becoming a preferred way for some people to transact and we want to accommodate those individuals.”
DISH has selected Coinbase as the payment processor for bitcoin transactions with customers who choose to pay their bill online with the bitcoin wallet of their choice. DISH will use Coinbase’s Instant Exchange(TM) feature to exchange bitcoin payments to U.S. dollars at the moment of the transaction. Read more

The Virtual Joey is now available on PS3 consoles and select LG TV’s (2013 and newer), allowing customers to watch their Hopper from their gaming console or LG TV without connecting any additional equipment. Making DISH HD even easier to get. Users can then watch live shows and sports, DVR recordings and a thousandstrong selection of On Demand titles through their console. The World will be watching on Thursday as Brazil opens their first ever FIFA World Cup, and the first World Cup every held in South America. All games will be carried on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2, as well as other international channels. Thanks to the location being relatively similar to the East Coast, most game times are fairly reasonably for American fans, with my kick-offs scheduled for noon, 3:00PM, 4:00PM and 6:00PM Eastern Standard Time.
